In these regions, the landscape of cancer treatment often grapples with hurdles such as limited access to state-of-the-art technology, a scarcity of specialized oncology expertise, and constrained health care infrastructures. These challenges often result in less than ideal initial cancer treatments, leading to a higher rate of recurrent disease. The session focuses on brain, lung, head and neck, breast, and prostate reirradiation, a key therapeutic approach in managing such recurrences, especially in the context of limited resources. It emphasizes the integration of the latest global research and advancements in reirradiation into practical, everyday clinical scenarios. This is particularly crucial in LMICs, where adapting advanced treatments to local realities is essential. The session aims to equip practitioners with the knowledge and tools to implement effective reirradiation strategies, tailoring these to the unique constraints and needs of their settings. This approach not only addresses a common clinical challenge and common tumor sites, but also aims to enhance patient outcomes in areas where recurrent cancer is a significant issue due to initial treatment limitations.
