Dr. Quan Chen earned his PhD in Medical Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004. He began his career as a Senior Research Physicist at TomoTherapy Inc., where he played a key role in developing several widely adopted features of the system, including VoLo and TomoEdge. In 2011, Dr. Chen transitioned to clinical practice, working at various academic medical centers before joining the Mayo Clinic in 2023. Dr. Chen has authored and co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles, two book chapters, and holds eight patents. He has received NIH SBIR funding to advance AI solutions for radiation therapy. In addition to his research, Dr. Chen contributes to the field through his roles on multiple AAPM committees and task groups, as well as NRG working groups. He also serves as an Associate Editor for the journals Medical Physics and JACMP. Dr. Chen is dedicated to medical physics education, providing didactic lectures, mentoring students and residents, and engaging in public outreach.
