Philip A. Blumenfeld, MD MPH, is a board certified radiation oncologist in Jerusalem, Israel at Hadassah Medical Center-Hebrew University. Dr. Blumenfeld practices general radiation oncology and specializes in thoracic malignancies, central nervous system cancer, sarcoma and pancreatic cancer. He is an expert in advanced radiotherapy techniques including intracranial stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic body radiation therapy. Dr. Blumenfeld treats patients at AMITA Saint Joseph Hospital Mark M. Connolly Center for Cancer and Specialty Care, where he serves as the medical director of the radiotherapy department. Dr. Blumenfeld received his undergraduate degree from Yeshiva University in New York. He earned an MPH at Hebrew University’s Braun School of Public Health with a concentration in genetic epidemiology and subsequently his MD at Tel Aviv University’s Sackler School of Medicine. He did his internship at Rush University Medical Center and completed his residency at the Department of Radiation Oncology, Rush University Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident in 2017-2018. During his training, Dr. Blumenfeld was awarded the Roentgen Resident Research award and Steven M. Pinsky Chicago Radiologic Society’s award for his research and mentorship of fellow colleagues. Dr. Blumenfeld has presented his research at international meetings and has multiple peer-reviewed publications. His overall vision is to develop state-of-the art ways to care and empower patients during their treatment, as demonstrated through his involvement with medical startups that are working to digitize symptom monitoring for oncology patients and develop novel cancer therapies.
