Dr. Yu-Wei Lin is the chief physician of the Department of Radiation Oncology, Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He received his MD from Chung Shan Medical University (Taichung, Taiwan). He completed his internship at National Taiwan University Hospital (Taipei, Taiwan) and the residency training at Chi Mei Medical Center (Tainan, Taiwan).
Dr. Lin is a well-trained radiation oncologist with expertise in stereotactic radiation therapy (SRS/SBRT and HyperArc) for intracranial/extracrainal tumors, lung cancer, and prostate cancer. He has participated in cancer research since medical school and joined the research team at Genetic Engineering Laboratory (Lab Director: Ming-Hong Tai, Ph.D.), Institute of Biomedical Sciences, National Sun Yat-sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Dr. Lin also holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from National Sun Yat-sen University.
His early research included neuroregeneration, anti-angiogenesis, and tumor suppression genes (PTEN, p53). Dr. Lins current research includes radioresistant mechanisms in cancer cells, the prognostic role and regulatory signaling pathway of hepatoma-derived growth factor (HDGF), the combination therapy of molecular therapy and SBRT, and HyperArc for intracranial and extracranial research.
