Dr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan received his Ph.D. in Life Science from HKUST in 2022. Before joining UMB SOM, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at HKUST, where his research focused on cancer drug screening targeting DNA replication initiation proteins, drug resistance, and TCM-based small molecule identification. He also served as a Teaching Assistant, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. At UMB Department of Radiation Oncology SOM, in Dr. Tran’s lab, he now explores cancer cell plasticity programs like EMT using cutting-edge technologies. Specifically, his research focus on elucidating the role of EMT transcription factor Twist1 to model the rare squamous variant of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma in mouse model.
