Julianna Korns is a 6th year PhD Candidate in the Cancer and Cell Biology Program at the University of Cincinnati. Julianna conducts research in the lab of Vinita Takiar, MD, PhD. The focus of her research is to investigate the underlying mechanisms driving HPV- and HPV+ head and neck cancer progression and to identify novel therapeutic targets to be combined with radiation therapy to improve survival outcomes for head and neck cancer patients. Julianna has presented her research at multiple national meetings, received an institutional pilot grant, and published two first author articles during her time as a graduate student at UC. Julianna plans to graduate in the Fall of 2024 and continue her research development in a post-doctoral fellowship.
