Takahiro Oike, MD, PhD is an Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at Gunma University Department of Radiation Oncology/Heavy Ion Medical Center, Japan, and an Adjunct Professor at Universitas Indonesia. His clinical specialty is the treatment of gynecological cancers and carbon ion radiotherapy. His specialty as biologist includes cancer genomics, metabolomics, and DNA damage responses. Overarching goal of his research is application of precision medicine to radiotherapy and biological optimization of carbon ion radiotherapy; the latter being presented in ASTRO 2024. He has published 100+ peer-reviewed manuscripts including the first-ever visualization of carbon ion-induced complex DNA double-strand break clusters using super-high resolution microscopy. Dr. Oike is also the recipient of multiple governmental and industry research grants. Dr. Oikes dedication earned him honors such Gunma University Distinguished Young Researcher, the Award of Excellence from ITCCIR, and the series of awards from JASTRO.
