Dr. Uto is a radiation oncologist, assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology and Image-Applied Therapy at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine.
She is a Japanese board-certified radiation oncologist and cancer therapist. After receiving her Ph.D. in Radiation Oncology from Kyoto University, she has dedicated her career to improving local control and reducing adverse events at Kyoto University Hospital, especially in the fields of CNS tumors, pediatric tumors, and hematologic tumors. She has published many peer-reviewed manuscripts on the topic of radiotherapy for CNS tumors, including stereotactic radiosurgery for metastatic brain tumors, single isocenter stereotactic radiosurgery for multiple brain metastases, and new irradiation technique using Dynamic WaveArc and non-coplanar VMAT for intracranial tumors. In addition, she researched online CBCT-guided adaptive radiotherapy (oART) for gastric MALT lymphoma and evaluated intrafractional and interfractional target change during oART. She received the Japanese Journal of Radiology Outstanding Paper Award 2020 for the paper titled as "Single-isocenter volumetric-modulated Dynamic WaveArc therapy for two brain metastases", and FARO travel grant in 2023 about the research for radiotherapy in patients with intracranial hemangioblastoma.
