Postdoctoral fellow, Department of Radiation Oncology, Division of Radiation Oncology, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX
Dr. Laia Humbert-Vidan is a Radiotherapy Physicist and a postdoctoral researcher. She completed her Clinical Scientist residency training within the North London Training Consortium in the UK. She was then appointed at the Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London (UK), where she transitioned from a clinical position to a research programme at the School of Cancer and Pharmaceutical Sciences at King’s College London. She is currently undertaking a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Her PhD research focused on the use of machine and deep learning methods for the prediction of mandibular osteoradionecrosis in patients with head and neck cancer treated with radiotherapy. This involved training, testing and interpreting deep learning-based prediction models using 3D radiation dose distribution maps along with clinical data as inputs. Her current research interests remain in the field of developing comprehensive decision support systems for a more efficient and personalised cancer treatment.
