Mateusz J. Spalek (born December 27, 1987, in Tarnowskie Góry, Poland) is a Polish physician, radiation oncologist, scientist, academic, and inventor. He holds a habilitation degree in medical and health sciences (DSc). Dr Spalek completed his medical studies at the Silesian Medical University in Katowice in 2012, followed by various postgraduate studies, including clinical trials, biostatistics, and an MBA.
Currently, he is an associate professor at the National Institute of Oncology in Warsaw, where he also serves as Deputy Head of the Department of Radiotherapy I and a consultant at the Department of Soft Tissue/Bone Sarcoma and Melanoma. His research primarily focuses on the treatment of rare cancers, with a particular interest in soft tissue and bone sarcomas, stereotactic radiotherapy, hyperthermia, and radiation-induced skin reactions.
Dr Spalek has authored over 70 scientific publications and is actively involved in multiple scientific societies, including the Polish Society of Radiation Oncology, the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology, and the Multinational Association for Supportive Care in Cancer. He has also been recognized with numerous awards.
