Dr. Villa-Pulgarin is a postdoctoral researcher focusing on the myeloid compartment in irradiated prostate cancers at Weill Cornell Medicine, NY. He completed his Ph.D. in Biology and Clinical Cancer at Salamanca University (Spain). His doctoral research focused on the mechanisms of action of new drugs, particularly alkylphospholipid analogs, for the treatment of cancer and leishmaniasis. Before joining WCM, he worked as an assistant professor and researcher at Remington University (Colombia), where his research centered on evaluating the antitumor and immunoregulatory properties of natural and synthetic molecules. Currently, his research interests include understanding the immune response, especially the myeloid compartment, to radiation within the tumor microenvironment and the synergy between radiation and immunotherapy.
