Tamara Z. Vern-Gross, D.O., F.A.A.P. specializes in treating Breast cancer, Pediatric malignancies, Central Nervous Systems, and Bone/soft tissue sarcomas. Dr. Vern-Gross received her medical degree from Des Moines School of Osteopathic Medicine and continued her medical career in the field of pediatrics, with a goal of treating pediatric malignancies. After completing her Pediatric residency at Advocate Christ Hope Children’s Hospital in Illinois, her focus on symptom management and optimizing quality of life led her to pursue the Harvard Palliative Medicine fellowship (adult and pediatric) at Massachusetts General Hospital/Boston Children’s Hospital/ Dana Farber Cancer Institute, gaining expertise in physician-patient communication, pain and non-pain symptom management, as well as psychosocial and bereavement support. She finished her Radiation Oncology at Wake Forest Baptist Health in North Carolina and concluded her training following a fellowship in Pediatric Proton Therapy at the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute. Dr. Vern-Gross is the author of a number of book chapters and peer-reviewed publications. After her time at Mayo Clinic Arizona, Dr. Vern-Gross has transitioned to private work as a Consultant. She embraces family-centered care, focusing on improving disease outcomes and minimizing late effects of radiation, improving interpersonal/communication skills through medical education, and addressing survivorship concerns for children and adults.
