Masashi Mizumoto, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at University of Tsukuba Hospital. His clinical speciality is the treatment of liver cancer and pediatric cancer. He has been conducting research related to proton beam therapy and radiation therapy for rare diseases since 2002. He has published numerous manuscripts focused on these topics, including the eight first-author manuscripts in the IJROBP. Many of his papers have been adopted into the ASTRO model policy for proton beam therapy and have contributed to its clinical application. Currently, as one of the leaders of the Japanese multicenter prospective registry study of liver cancer and pediatric oncology, he is developing guidelines for these diseases as well as ongoing clinical research on rare diseases and rare conditions.
