Kimberly Smith, MPA, FACHE, serves as Vice President of Radiation Oncology for a 200-person multidisciplinary department across five Mount Sinai Health System locations throughout New York City. In this role, she oversees innovation, growth strategies for new technology, patient volume, research, and staffing retention models. Kim has a proven record of success in these areas including revenue enhancement and numerous construction and expansion projects. In addition, Kim is responsible for formulating budgets and business plans, enforcing adherence to regulatory requirements and compliance with ethical standards, while emphasizing quality of care and enhancing the patient experience. Her expertise also extends to the study of the latest technology with the potential to improve services, reduce cost, and increase revenue. Throughout her career, Kim has worked in the oncology arena. Prior to joining Mount Sinai, she held a number of positions at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center with increasing levels of responsibility in business and financial services. Kim holds a Master’s in Public Administration and recently became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). She has a special interest in wellness focused on developing programs that address burnout and foster the well-being of physicians, administrative leaders, and staff. Her article, “Can You Hear Me Now?” was published in the January 24, 2020, edition of Oncology Issues that highlighted physician burnout and utilizing software to save time for overburdened physicians.
