Dr. Matthew Ning, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of Thoracic Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson who specializes in the management of thoracic malignancies, esophageal tumors, and oligometastatic/ oligoprogressive disease from various histologies. He is experienced delivering RT to all anatomical sites, utilizing the full spectrum of external-beam modalities and techniques (including proton beam and stereotactic ablative radiotherapy), and treating advanced clinical indications (such as definitive reirradiation, multi-isocenter cases, and in the setting of modern systemic agents, including immunomodulatory and targeted therapy drugs)
As an academic clinician, Dr. Ning moderates the bi-weekly quality assurance meetings for Thoracic Radiation Oncology, during which 1,250 cases per year are peer-reviewed prior to treatment, and is rotating moderator for their multidisciplinary esophageal tumor board. He has co-authored >75 publications, is active investigator of several protocols, and serves as Educational Site Director for Thoracic Radiation Oncology to foster the clinical expertise of their 24 residency program trainees
Dr. Ning also holds leadership titles as the Director of Clinical Value and Patient Experience Officer for the Division of Radiation Oncology, which consists of >70 Radiation Oncologists collectively delivering >12,000 courses of RT each year. In these administrative roles, Dr. Ning works toward improving patient access while reducing barriers for providers in their ability to treat, co-leading several innovative and patient-centered initiatives across the Division. He works closely with their financial and pre-authorization teams to streamline billing processes and efficiently navigate the insurance workflow to facilitate timely patient care.
