Paul M. Harari, MD is the Jack Fowler Professor and Chairman of the Department of Human Oncology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Harari earned his bachelor’s (BS) in Biology at Tufts University and medical degree (MD) at the University of Virginia. He completed his Internal Medicine Internship at the University of California Davis and Radiation Oncology Residency at the University of Arizona. He joined the faculty at the University of Wisconsin and became an endowed Professor in 2003 and Department Chairman in 2007. His clinical and laboratory research focuses primarily on treatment advances for head and neck cancer patients.
Dr. Harari has served as the Principal Investigator (PI) for NIH and industry sponsored grants including his current PI role for the $12M Wisconsin Head and Neck Cancer SPORE Grant. He has served as PI or Co-Chair for Phase II and III national and international clinical trials that investigate new treatment regimens for head and neck cancer patients. He directed the Radiation Oncology Residency Training Program at the University of Wisconsin for ten years. He served on the American Society for Radiation Oncology Board of Directors from 2012-2020 and currently serves in the Presidential Track including the role of ASTRO President in 2017-2018 and Chairman of the ASTRO Board of Directors 2018-2019. Dr. Harari has authored over 250 original research articles and book chapters on cancer research topics with particular emphasis on the evaluation and treatment of cancer patients.
