Juan J. Juarez - Vignon Whaley, MD, is a Research Fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School, specializing in gastrointestinal oncology. With over seven years of experience in cancer research, Dr. Whaley has extensive expertise in basic, translational, and clinical research across various cancer types, including central nervous system, head and neck cancer and thoracic oncology.
Throughout his career, Dr. Whaley has worked at prestigious institutions both nationally and internationally, including the Mayo Clinic, City of Hope, and the National Institute for Respiratory Diseases in Mexico City. These experiences have enabled him to present his research at renowned conferences. Currently, Dr. Whaley focuses on gastrointestinal clinical trials, exploring the impact and advantages of locoregional therapies and combination with immunotherapy in the management of hepatobiliary malignancies.
At the ASTRO 2024 Annual Meeting, Dr. Whaley will present findings from his latest research on recurrence patterns in patients with gastric cancer treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the role of radiation therapy in gastric cancer and identify key areas for future research focus.
