Shao Hui (Sophie) Huang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Toronto. She was an MD trained in China, and completed her Hons BSc in Radiation Therapy at the University of Toronto / Michener Institute in 2003. Since graduation, she works as a radiation therapist at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Sophie currently divides her time among maintaining the Head-and-Neck Cancer Anthology of Outcomes System at the institution, coordinating the multidisciplinary Head-and-Neck Cancer Conference, clinical and translational research, and delivering radiation treatment for head and neck cancers. She has been the principal investigator in many research projects and has published more than 120 peer-reviewed journal articles and 10 text book chapters. She is one of the editors of the UICC Manual of Clinical Oncology 9th edition, an editor of ANPC and JMIRS journals, and a reviewer for many scientific journals. She has received many international and Canadian awards for her research work including Best of ASTRO, Best Poster in ESTRO and Best Research in CARO annual scientific meetings, and most recently the CAMRT Welsh Memorial Lectureship Award. She has appeared in several Canadian National Television and News Outlet education interview representing PMH head and neck site group for public awareness relating to head and neck cancer.
