Santosh Nori is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Michigan Medical School applying into Radiation Oncology this year. He received his B.A. at the University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in Biology and minored in Political Science. He also received his MPH from Penn, focusing on healthcare economics and policy. During his MPH, he co-founded and operated a clinic-on-wheels with a $225,000 grant from the federal government to provide free cancer screenings and primary care to uninsured and homeless residents in Philadelphia. These experiences inspired Santosh’s research interests, which focus on financial toxicity and cost-effectiveness in oncologic care. At the University of Michigan, he pursued a dedicated research year studying cost optimization of treatment decisions and financial toxicity of various aspects of oncologic and perioperative care, with coursework focused on cost-effectiveness research methods. Apart from research, he is also the Strategy Lead at A Healthier Democracy, an organization that works in close association with the White House to publicize key health policy issues.
