Dr. Bilgen, a recent graduate of Koç University School of Medicine in Istanbul, Türkiye, is currently applying to radiation oncology residency programs in the USA. She is part of Dr. Kenneth Hu’s Head and Neck cancer research team at NYU Langone Hospital. Inspired by her familys experiences with cancer and her exposure to radiation oncology, Dr. Bilgen has always aspired to become a doctor. She attended medical school on a 50% academic scholarship and graduated from Mentor College high school in Toronto, Canada, with honors with distinction, also serving as the school ambassador. Prior to Mentor College, she studied at the British School Al-Khubairat in Abu Dhabi, UAE, where she excelled in her GCSE examinations, earning all A stars and academic success awards. During medical school, Dr. Bilgen served as the host speaker for her university’s foundation awards and white coat ceremonies. She also participated in remote research with Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto General Hospital, and NYU Langone Hospital, focusing on qualitative studies related to breast and head and neck cancers.
