Dr. Ying Zhang currently serves as an Assistant Professor and Therapeutic Medical Physicist within the Radiation Oncology Department at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW). She earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Tianjin University, China, in 2017. During her PhD, she was an exchange Ph.D. student at the Therapeutic Radiology Department at Yale University from 2012 to 2014. Following her doctoral studies, Dr. Zhang pursued post-doctoral and therapeutic residency training at Radiation Oncology department of Medical College of Wisconsin.
Dr. Zhangs research focuses on using AI techniques to accelerate the process of MRI-guided Adaptive Radiotherapy (MRgART). Her work includes developing automatic contour quality assurance (QA) methods, a self-guided interactive contouring tool, automatic contour correction methods, patient-specific deep learning (DL)-based longitudinal image auto-segmentation and DL based fast daily adaptive deliverable plan prediction. Her research efforts have resulted in the publication of numerous peer-reviewed papers and have been presented at several national conferences, where she received prestigious awards in recognition of her work.
