Dr. Michael J. LaRiviere is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology. He did his undergraduate work in neuroscience at Amherst College, medical school at Emory University, and residency at the University of Pennsylvania. He specializes in the treatment of pediatric patients, including hospitalized inpatients at the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia, using conventional photon radiotherapy, stereotactic body radiotherapy, proton therapy, reirradiation, and total body irradiation. Dr. LaRiviere leads research programs in translational hematologic radiation oncology and noninvasive blood- and imaging-based biomarkers, including clinical trials to understand the interactions between immunotherapy and radiation, and chimeric antigen T-cell (CART) therapy and radiation. Dr. LaRiviere has received research funding from the Radiological Society of North America to explore how 3D-printing can be used to improve oncology education for medical students. He is a member of the Childrens Oncology Group (COG), International Society of Paediatric Oncology (Société Internationale dOncologie Pédiatrique - SIOP), Paediatric Radiation Oncology Society, International Lymphoma Radiation Oncology Group (ILROG), and University of Pennsylvania Radiation Oncology Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Committee.
