Dr. Myrsini Ioakeim Ioannidou grew up in Greece where she studied medicine at the Medical School of Athens. During the six-year-MD program, she performed several clinical rotations in US hospitals including Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Johns Hopkins Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She also had a three-month-internship at MGH under the supervision of Dr. Shannon MacDonald focusing on pediatric malignancies treated with proton radiation therapy. Following her graduation in 2019, she started a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Department of Radiation Oncology at MGH, under the supervision of Dr. Shannon MacDonald. Her main research focus is proton radiation therapy outcomes in pediatric and adult patients with skull base and spinal tumors, including chordomas and chondrosarcomas. She also served as the data manager of the MGH Breast Cancer Lymphedema Program. Following the completion of her fellowship, Dr. Myrsini Ioakeim Ioannidou aspires to embark on a U.S. residency training program in the field of radiation oncology.
