Dr. Yamoah is the Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology, and Director of Cancer Health Disparities Research at the Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Yamoah’s clinical focus is genitourinary malignancies, and currently serves as the Section Chief for Genitourinary Radiation Oncology.
Dr. Yamoah received his MD degree from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York and his PhD in Oncological Science from Mount Sinai Graduate School of Biological Sciences and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, also in New York, NY. Dr. Yamoah completed a Radiation Oncology residency at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA, where he served as Chief Resident. He also completed a research fellowship in prostate cancer disparities and epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Yamoah is the lead principal investigator for the NCI-D43 Global Cancer Training program. He also directs a global laboratory that focuses on the identification of clinically relevant environmental and biological contributions to aggressive disease and poor survival in men of African origin with prostate cancer. He is currently funded by the Department of Defense, American Cancer Society, Prostate Cancer Foundation, and the National Institute of Health. He is also lead principal investigator for the department of Veterans Affairs-PCF award to develop Precision Oncology Centers of Excellence within the Bay Pines and James Haley VAs.
Dr. Yamoah is a physician scientist who is highly demanded in the fast-growing field of prostate cancer disparities research. He has won several awards and honors and is a respected member of the scientific community.
