I am a professor of radiation oncology at Winship Cancer Institute. I treat children with all types of malignant tumors. Additionally, I run a program for young adults who are childhood and adolescent cancer survivors dedicated to surveillance/screening for late effects from therapy. I am a member of neuroblastoma and stem cell transplantation disease committees of Children’s Oncology Group (COG) charged with protocol development; COG late effects task force producing and updating evidence-based surveillance guidelines for childhood cancer survivors. At the international level, I am the President of the Pediatric Radiation Oncology Society. I co-chair a task group in charge of pediatric radiotherapy activities in developing countries within the International Society of Pediatric Oncology Society. I am also an invited expert with the World Health Organization and the Internal Agency of Atomic Energy for global childhood cancer-related activities.
My research focuses on the clinical outcomes of children and young adults treated with radiotherapy. I published multiple reports on our institutional results in reputable peer-review journals. My research also focuses on the late effects of cancer therapy in children. This work was published in peer review journals.
