Charles C. Hsu, MD, PhD is an Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology and Medical Director of the Clinical Trial Office at the University of Arizona Cancer Center / Banner University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. He received his bachelor’s from Princeton University, followed by a Fulbright Fellowship. He earned his medical degree and doctorate in epidemiology from Johns Hopkins. He also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in cancer epidemiology with the World Health Organization. Internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center was followed by residency in radiation oncology at the University of California-San Francisco. His clinical specialty is the treatment of thoracic cancers, cutaneous malignancies, and benign diseases. His research has been published in JAMA, the Lancet, and JCO. He is an active member of the Southwest Oncology Group and ASTRO and has been involved on the national level with lung cancer and cutaneous malignancy clinical trials. He has served as co-principal investigator of the phase III trial ECOG EA6174 for Merkel cell carcinoma and as SWOG champion of NRG-LU005 for limited-stage small cell lung cancer.
