Low dose radiation therapy for musculoskeletal conditions has a long and storied history, but has been largely ignored outside of Western Europe. Recently, many community radiation oncologists have begun to explore this treatment for osteoarthritis and plantar fasciitis. In addition, RT can be used for many other non-cancerous conditions, such as Lederhosens disease, Dupuytrens contracture and various functional/CNS disorders. This session will be geared toward community practitioners that are seeking to broaden their indications for utilizing radiation therapy and to bring to the forefront innovations in treating benign conditions with radiation therapy. The presenters will be two high volume community radiation oncologists that treat benign conditions and an academic physician that will discuss RT for functional/CNS disorders. We will also discuss treatment techniques, how to build a program and how to market the program.
